I am so glad I chose Ubad Ubud cooking class while I was in Bali recently, what a wonderful experience with Made Ayu and Puspa, thank you all so much for sharing your beautiful home and property, and for the authentic experience of preparing and learning about Balinese food, I haven't stopped telling everyone about it and I will definitely be back to visit when Made has finished his meditation centre on the property, love to you all

Ubud Ubud Cooking Class is a MUST do in Bali. Our hosts were extremely friendly and opened their home to us. The food was fantastic and it was a wonderful experience to be cooking traditional Balinese food in such a serene environment.
Our visit to the market was also a highlight as we learnt about some of the herbs and vegetables that we would later be using in our cooking class.
Extremely good value for money and would recommend highly.

We have been to Bali many times, but this was our first stay in Ubud. We thought it would be fun to do a cooking school and decided on Ubad Ubud Cooking class after reading many good reviews.

It really was a great day - picked up from our hotel and taken to the Ubud market (an experience in itself!) and then on to the rice paddies and finally to Made's home to start cooking.

We had a large group but Made sure everyone was involved. We made 8 different dishes and then enjoyed eating them with a cold Bintang at the end.

We were also given copies of all the recipes to take home and I have to say we have made a few things already - the recipes are really easy to follow!

Made made it a fun day, but we also learnt a lot about Balinese history and culture.

I would highly recommend Ubad Ubud cooking class.

We loved the tour around a real Balinees market, the cooking class with a personal touch and de food we made with your excellent help! And last be not least it was fun to know how you can carve vegetables to enhance your dish. We definitely would recommend this experience to everyone!

Since our return to Perth Fran has made the Mushroom soup and I have tackled the Tofu/Tempe in sweet soy sauce. They were both a great success and impressed our families!

You made us feel so welcome and comfortable in your lovely home and we all hope the business will continue to prosper. We will certainly be recommending it to all our friends.

Thank you also for taking the time to get the mortar and pestle for us. Your generosity touched us. I have seasoned it like Made instructed and it now has pride of place in our kitchen. We also loved meeting Lucy – you both must be very proud to have raised such a charming and delightful young lady.

We sincerely hope to meet you again one day.

I went to have the cooking class at Ubad Ubud Bali at the beginning of February 2014. I absolutely loved it!

First we went to the local market where Puspa told me all about the herbs, vegetables and fruits used in Balinese dishes. The atmosphere at the market was nice and busy! You could see the locals do their groceries and the salesmen do their job. It's always a nice experience to be surrounded by the Balinese. Such lovely peoply!

After that we went to the compound where the cooking class took place. Puspa first explained to me about family life in Bali while I got to enjoy a fresh fruit juice and delicious sticky rice pancakes. After that we started cooking.

Since I was the only guest that day Puspa and Ayu helped me prepare all the dishes. Since I'm not a great cook I really appreciated their help and the information they gave me. They made it look so simple! In total we made around 7 dishes: clear mushroom soup, basic yellow sauce, gado-gado, deep fried tofu and tempe in sweet soy sauce, black rice pudding etc.

After the cooking I got to enjoy the food we made and the taste was amazing!! Too bad it was too much for me to finish it all because it was so good.

And the dishes were beautifully presented. They put the food on a buffet that was decorated with amazing fruit carvings made by Made, Ayu's husband. The lunch itself took place in a beautiful garden underneath a tree and I could even hear water running somewhere beneath me.

It was a wonderful experience and everyone involved in organizing this class was so friendly! So I will definitely go back.

Thank you very much for the superb cooking class we enjoyed at your hospitable family compoud. In the middle of nature, the ambiance is very scenic. It was a relaxing experience after some bustling days in the city of Ubud. We learned a lot about Balinese rice, markets and cuisine. The recipes you handed over to us to take home, are very helpful. Pick-up and return from our accommodation is a convenient service. The very tasty meal is the rewarding result of the cooking class which we heartily recommend.

I decided to share the wonderful experience I had at Ubad Ubud with my sister so I went back a second time.

Once again it was perfect: the local market, the rice fields and the food. The food is amazing and the process of making it is just fun.

Before we started eating Made showed us how to make fruit carvings. I was bad at it but my sister's skills seemed promising.

Overall we had a superb morning with the Ubad Ubud staff. Thank you all and see you again!

I would highly recommend attending Ubad Ubud Cooking class if you have a passion for food or just want to learn more about Bali & it's culture.
Absolutley wonderful experience Made & Lusy provided a very warm & welcoming experience, sharing their home and stories.
The food was AMAZING and you get the recipes to take home. I have cooked from these recipes 3 times already for my family and friends.
I would Definitely attend this class again, the whole experience was extremly satisfying, well worth the time & money. Thank you To Made, Lusy and all their wonderful staff. I will see you agin in April 2014 for some more yummy recipes.

Wij zijn ontzettend lief ontvangen voor de kookles. I Made Lunas en Lucy zijn ongelofelijk gastvrij. De kookles was een ervaring die we niet snel zullen vergeten. Koken in deze ambiance is een ervaring. Als we weer in Sanur Bali zijn gaan we dit zeer zeken nog een keer doen al was het maar om deze leuke lieve mensen weer te ontmoeten.
